BASSETERRE PUBLIC LIBRARY

STATUS: CONCEPT

Basseterre Public Library was a design created to fit within the urban context of St. Kitts' city. The building form was created by the restrains of the parcel of land, as well as, being able to create a visual relationship with the building and important landmarks throughout the city of Basseterre.

The building was designed to allow pedestrians to flow through, from one street to the next, reinforcing the public nature of the design. Keeping in line with our tropical design philosophy, the project implemented the heavy use of shading elements with timber louvres and cantilevers, creating shadow, reducing the direct impact of the sun.
